Missions at Cedar Creek

Here at Cedar Creek, we know that Jesus' command to make disciples applies to us. To be Christian implies being "on mission". We believe that the saving message of Jesus Christ needs to be heard by those across the street as well as those around the world.

There are many different opportunities to be involved in missions at Cedar Creek. Check out the links below for more information on how you can be involved in sharing the message of Christ.

South Asia

The modern mission movement was born in South Asia. We at Cedar Creek follow in that heritage by continuing that work. This region of the world remains one of the world most unreached. Of the 3,373 people groups identified, only 4% have been reached, which means that a full 96% have not only never heard of Jesus, but they will likely die without hearing unless we go and tell them.

You will find details of any upcoming opportunities to go right here.

Salt Lake City, Utah

At Cedar Creek, we recognize that we do not have to go far to find those who have never heard. One does not even need to leave North America to find a place that is virtually unreached. Of the 2.4 million people that live the metro Salt Lake City area, only 2.3% affiliate with an evangelical church. There is only 1 SBC congregation for every 40,994 people in the Salt Lake metro. As you move outside of Salt Lake, the percentages drop even lower.

Cedar Creek has many strategic partnerships in the Salt Lake region. Through our Annie Armstrong NAMB offering, we fund the SEND Network's church planters in the area. Through our regular Cooperative Program giving, we support local associations and directors of missions. Through our pastoral staff, we also have connections to specific pastors and congregations in the region.

We have an upcoming oppurtunity to serve in Salt Lake City:

From Friday, July 21--Friday, July 28, 2017, we will be partnering with Crossroads Church to share the gospel in the metro SLC area. Register online here. Cost: $300 deposit due May 7th; remaining $550 due June 30.

OTHER MISSION OPPURTUNITIES

  • outreach

Jesus called us to love and serve our neighbors. Outreach is servant-focused. We seek to welcome and extend ourselves to those in our community, especially those who enter our service(s). It is our goal to build relationships with those in our community with the hope of bringing them to salvation in Jesus Christ. We desire to make all first-time guests and members feel welcome. This includes but is not limited to warm greetings, information about church details and activities, and meeting all needs of guests, visitors, and members.

One of our biggest outreach ministries is Campus Life. Campus Life is an after-school program that ministers to students at Fern Creek High School. At Campus Life, we play games, we eat food, we build relationships with students, and we share with them about the hope of Jesus Christ in the gospel!

  • short-term missions

Just as the first churches supported one another to advance the gospel, so we seek to advance the gospel through short-term missions. Specifically, we send teams twice a year to South Asia to deliver the gospel to unreached people groups. We also intentionally raise money to support missions through the Annie Armstrong, Leonard Hood, and Lottie Moon offerings.

  • l.o.t. ministries

"L.O.T." stands for "Least of These." The Bible makes it clear that we are to help those who are unable to help themselves (orphans, widows, etc.). We have partnerships with multiple "L.O.T." ministires, including Louisville Rescue Mission, Fern Creek Highview United Ministries, and Scarlet Hope.
