For Cedar Creek, our main grouping strategy happens on Sunday morning and uses an age-graded system. We will soon be offering two different Sunday morning groups organized around three age groupings: young adults (ages 18-35), median adults (ages 35-65), and senior adults (ages 65+). Both strategies seek to provide quality Bible study that is appropriate for all kinds of people, opportunities to connect with other in the same life situation, and a meaningful group of friends to provide care for each other. Regular participation in one of these groups is a prerequisite for leadership opportunities.
- Sunday School: This is a more traditional age-graded structure. People are organized into "classes" with a focus on a particular lesson for the day. This grouping structure typically utilizes a denominationally supplied teaching curriculum and has limits on class size.
- Bible Fellowship Groups: These groups are more progressive in terms of curriculum and age-grading. Instead of using outside materials, these groups utilize the preaching of the Bible in our church to regulate their teaching. Because the teaching is utilizing the sermon, these classes are designed to be much more interactive. In addition, they are not as strict about age-grading. In all other regards, BFG's and Sunday School are very similar. These groups will be beginning their curriculum switch in December.
